About Me

The other students in my high school creative writing class always voted to have my story read aloud. Hooked, that beginning love for writing took me along the expected roads of education, career and family.

Education

I graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and a minor in Journalism.

Career

I utilized my writing skills in many news releases as I worked for my local county government in the agricultural community. With marriage came a move to Southern California and a job at Wycliffe Bible Translators. Here I joined a local writing group in Orange County and published my first article.

Moving back to Washington State with my husband, my next career move was to raise four great children and do freelance writing.  Part of that freelance writing included a local weekly radio show I produced called “Recipes for Life.” It was a five minute show that was upbeat and humorous and aired for six years. Additionally I was a featured speaker at statewide and local homeschooling conferences.

Following always my love for writing, I taught high school writing classes part time. I loved finding in my students their passion for life, and teaching them that writing about that could turn writing from an assignment to lifelong adventure.

My current job is navigating the complex and fun world of freelance writing and speaking. Listen to my most recent message given at a local women’s retreat. Along with these adventures, I am writing a novel.  I enjoy blogging, a favorite post is: Explosions in Life

Family

I have been married to the love of my life, Mike, for 35 years and we have four children and three grandchildren. When I am not writing, life is full of camping trips with my husband, children, grandkids, and teaching classes on essential oils and cheering on my beloved Seattle Mariners.

I love the close family that God has created and my church family and many friends.  I believe the closeness of my family can be attributed to the faith that all of us share, which can be summed up in I John 5:11, “And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.” NKJV
